Meredith McCrindle is a native of Houston, Texas. In 2009 she moved to Scotland to begin her postgraduate studies at St. Andrews University in Fife. She and husband Simon moved "home" to Ayr in 2011, opening Ayr Guitar, 62 Alloway St. @ Burns Statue Square. In October 2013, Meredith and Simon became parents to twin boys, William and Alexander.
Meredith has played professionally since 1999 and has been teaching harpists of all ages since 2004. She has studied with many notable harpists including, Dewey Owens, Kimberely Snauffer, Rachel VanVoorhees, Ray Poole and Iain Hood. Meredith has worked in the music industry in a variety of positions including, marketing for Artists House Music, New Orleans; Southern District Representative for The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, Grammy University, Memphis, Tennessee and the Houston Symphony Orchestra in Houston, Texas. In 2009 Meredith was the Production Coordinator for Unwigged and Unplugged (Spinal Tap) Live Concert filmed in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Meredith maintains an active performance career, which includes many weddings, special events and guest appearances in Ayrshire and across Scotland. Meredith received her Bachelor’s degree in Harp Performance and Music Business from Loyola University, New Orleans. As a Katrina survivor she has a keen interest in re-building communities. This interest has blossomed in Ayr where she is an active member of the business community and is a member of the Ayr Town Centre Steering Group and is the Chair and Lead Producer of a local Halloween festival, TamFest. Meredith received her postgraduate degree from the University of St. Andrews, where she was awarded a harp scholarship, while studying management in the creative industries. Currently, Meredith is the resident harp instructor at the Wellington School, Ayr. Education: MLITT Management in the Creative Industries, University of St. Andrews, Fife; BA in Harp Performance and Music Industry Studies, Loyola University, New Orleans; Graduate, St. Agnes Academy, College Preparatory, Houston, Texas.
