The History of Our
H
arp Designs

Our aim has always been to improve the quality and sound of the lever and pedal harps available.
To make harps accessible, fun and to raise the standard of harps.

We believe music is for enjoyment and that people should be able to have harps of the highest standard at an affordable price.

The better the sound quality - the more  encouraging and rewarding it will be to learn. A purchase you will never regret.

The CLARSACH
We worked first on a 34 string folk harp, with the idea of creating a gut strung folk harp with concert tension and the best sound possible. This having been particularly requested by the late Derek Bell of The Chieftains. The result was the CLARSACH of today, which Derek and many other famous harpists play.

The PROGRESS
Later we designed a small pedal harp  matching the quality and reliability associated with the Concert Harp. This is an intermediate instrument for the student and a smaller harp for the young professional. The Progress Pedal Harp has proved so much more than our original plan. Today bought by professionals, mature students, Jazz harpists and teachers all over the world as well as the young students for which it was designed. The reliability and serviceability of the Progress have been proven and is reflected in the price commanded by secondhand instruments.

The CANTERBURY
20 years of working to improve the quality and acoustics of our instruments and the restoring of many other makes of harp has led to the design and production of this superb Concert Harp. We were 5 years testing the prototypes before we offered the harp for sale. It has already established its value for solo and orchestral work. The balance of tone throughout the whole instrument and ease of playing has to be tried.

The SALISBURY
is a 'sister' harp to our Canterbury model - but (quite literally) with a twist! The most recent harp in our range; it is crafted to the same exacting standards and incorporates all the latest features to be found in the Canterbury. However, moving away from the more traditional lines of the Canterbury, the Salisbury has a stylish, smooth shape to the pillar, embellished with graceful spiral flutes - for those who like something a little different.

The SKYLARK
We like to describe this as the low-cost harp with expensive sound! A clever minimalist design has enabled us to make a saving of around 30% when compared with our other 34 string models yet retaining 100% of the quality of tone. Available in Maple, Walnut or a host of fun colours!

The MALVERN
Introduced in 2007 & named in honour of Elgar, who's 150th anniversary is also celebrated this year. It is the most recent addition to our range. We have attempted the 'best of all worlds' with this concert harp model. It has 47 strings, extended soundboard, fully gut strung, weighs only 31 kg, all the tone & resonance you could wish for and all for under £10,000! It is already proving to be  amazingly popular.
