How do I know if my harp needs servicing?

A service checks your harp and fixes any small problems that may have developed over time. Just like a car, a harp needs a regular service in order to help prevent problems and keep it working at its best. For professional harpists playing constantly, we recommend a service once a year; for students, perhaps once every other year. Lever-harps need checking less regularly but it is good practice to get it looked over every five years or so. Servicing regularly can save you money in the long term.

Restoration and Repair

Picture
Restoration and repair is a vital part of our work.
From the small accident to the major repair, we can restore your instrument back to full playing condition.
Though our designs are pushing forward the sound capabilities of the harp, we are ever appreciative of the designs, styles and sounds of the past. These lovely instruments are worth restoring!

We are highly experienced in restoration and repair of the older instruments and are able to advise you as to the best course of action for each Harp.

Some of our work is to repair old harps for enthusiasts who like the delicate and mellow resonance of older instruments - this may be a 150 year old Grecian Erard or a 70 year old Lyon and Healy.

We have the experience and enthusiasm to undertake this work from the basics to a full restoration and re-gilding of a harp back to its former glory.

More information
To celebrate the renovation of our Erard Grecian Harp by Pilgrim Harps we hosted an evening talk and concert where the newly repaired instrument was played for the first time.
Harp concert by Sharron Griffiths and talk by Simon Chadwick.

"The finest pedal harp that has ever been made in Britain. It is much lighter than most concert harps and, this combined with an original body construction, has a range of sonority and dynamic that is quite remarkable.”
