I began harp lessons with Lynne Creasey aged 8, before gaining a music scholarship to Brentwood School. Aged 15, I was accepted to study at the Junior Royal Academy of Music, studying under Miriam Keogh ARAM. Aged 19, having been awarded places and scholarships to study at numerous conservatoires, I chose to attend the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London studying under Charlotte Seale and Imogen Barford and subsequently The University of Bristol, where I continued my harp studies with Ruth Faber ARCM.
I have undertaken masterclasses with David Watkins, Marisa Robles, Catherine White, Sioned Williams, Maria Luisa Rayan-Forero and Helga Stork to name but a few. I have received orchestral coaching from the London Symphony Orchestra harpists Bryn Lewis and Karen Vaughn and have performed in various notable venues such as the Barbican Hall and Mansion House. Having studied at both The Guildhall School of Music and The University of Bristol, graduating with first class honours, I enjoy a busy freelance career as a harpist and harp teacher.

Fiona Hosford |
'A gifted and experienced harpist, Fiona is based in the South East of England but her work takes her throughout the UK and abroad.
She performs at a huge range of functions - weddings, corporate events, car launches and other social and private events have all been entertained by Fiona and her Harp. Specialising in "playing outside the Harpbox of tunes" - Fiona is well known for putting the extra effort into making sure that a client's taste in music is adhered to. Her repertoire is vast and ranges from recognisable Classical pieces (ie: from films and adverts), Jazz standards (such as Gershwin, Carmichael, Porter and Kern) through to more contemporary pieces - Coldplay, Sting, Elton John, Norah Jones, Massive Attack, Radiohead, Guns n Roses and many more! Having studied the piano, violin and singing, she settled on the Harp at 6 years old, and it soon became apparent that the other instruments were secondary to her interest in the Harp. Over the years she has gained extensive experience performing throughout the UK and abroad, including residencies in Cyprus and aboard cruise ships. Her varied repertoire has delighted a wide range of clients and her soothing and uplifting music played on her Harp has added an air of refinement and relaxation. Fiona also performs for a number of talks and afternoon teas in her local area for a wide genre of clientele and also is a supporter of the Macmillan Cancer Charity and performs for fundraising Concerts on their behalf. Affectionately described as the most friendly, 'normal' Harpist about, Fiona is blessed with a strong sense of humour and a personality to match. With this coupled up and a sympathetic musical ear, this ensures that the client is given a first class musical service with regards to their special occasion. Her professionalism is evident throughout her attitude to playing and providing a first class service for each event. Whether it be playing for your Ceremony, Drinks Reception, Wedding Breakfast or the 'Whole Day' option, Fiona prides herself on providing a personal and friendly service. (Amplification is also available with her Harp, which then gives the Harp an extra boost of musical power over any noise - this is particularly good for over 120 guests!) So - you've chosen the date and venue, what could be more atmospheric and romantic than having a Harpist to entertain you and your guests? A harp provides a fantastic romantic atmosphere and also makes a great focal point as well amongst guests. Once booked for an event, Fiona suggests to then have a chat about any musical preferences that the client may have, or she can suggest items to listen to. Classic FM and borrowing CDs from your local library are a good cost effective idea, as buying wedding CDs can be expensive and not all pieces are suitable to play on the Harp! She offers Skype consultations and also invites clients to hear her her play at her house (by appointment only). On Fiona’s website, you will find a plethora of information, including video clips, sound bytes, Hotels that use her as a preferred supplier, reviews from Clients an enquiry form and much more – she’s more than happy to help. |

"The finest pedal harp that has ever been made in Britain. It is much lighter than most concert harps and, this combined with an original body construction, has a range of sonority and dynamic that is quite remarkable.”
