Reidun is a harpist based near Killarney, Co. Kerry, Ireland. She has over 25 years of experience and has played all over Europe, at harp and folk festivals and various types of events. Reidun is one of the first musicians in Europe to play and develop a technique for the modern cross strung chromatic harp (6/6-system).
Originally from Belgium, Reidun has played Irish Harp since 1989, and cross-strung chromatic harp since 1999. She got classical harp training in Liège, Belgium, and Harp and Musical Education training at Musikhochschule Aachen, Germany. She lives in Kerry, Ireland, since 2008. Teaching activity: regular workshops for Irish harp in Ireland, Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands and France; teaching Harp & Irish music in Co. Kerry, Ireland, via Reidun’s Harp Centre & at Killarney School of Music. Performing: played with several folk/trad bands in Belgium (e.g. Amorroma/Les Tisserands, CD & DVD projects) & Germany. Duo “Amala” with Paul de Grae on guitar. Duo with uilleann piper Barry Lynch. Trio with Barry Lynch & Brendan O’Sullivan (fiddle). Publishing: “Mein Schlaues Harfenbuch”, tutor for Irish harp (120 pages with CD, in German); “My little Irish Harp Book – First Steps Made Easy for the Young Beginner” (2018) and “Making Progress on the Irish Harp – Songs and Tunes from Ireland” (2020).
